TRIO MARTINŮ
Pavel ŠAFAŘÍK | violin
Jaroslav MATĚJKA | cello
Petr JIŘÍKOVSKÝ | piano
Today we will stay at home, in two respects. Firstly, on the stage you will see our home players from the FOK – the cellist Jaroslav Matějka and the violinist Pavel Šafařík, accompanied by Petr Jiříkovský, and we will hear music written exclusively by Czech composers. Antonín Dvořák’s Trio from 1883 and Bohuslav Martinů’s Piano Trio composed in 1951, both already considered classics. But the royal discipline of chamber music also attracts contemporary composers. One of the most significant among them in our country is Jaroslav Pelikán. During today's concert, we will set out on a journey through time with a piano trio, and from the comfort of the concert hall we’ll be watching how this musical form has changed over the course of three centuries.
