The extraordinary violinist Josef Žák was born in Prague. Fate brought him to Paris, where he has been living permanently since 2010, working in Baroque and Classical music ensembles. He founded the Ensemble Castelkorn, whose main source of repertoire is the music collection of Bishop Karl Lichtenstein-Castelkorn in Kroměříž, which he strives to make better known. He takes exemplary care, for example, of the stunning works of Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber and Johann Heinrich Schmelzer.
