PRAGUE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Michael SANDERLING | conductor
Michael Sanderling is a conductor who likes to dig deep and cares about every detail. This makes collaborating with him on thematically strong projects particularly exciting. Our last concert together, the Absolute Tribute to Beethoven, was one such project and so will the present one. The nobleman Don Juan - Giovanni, if you prefer, is a character that various authors have been tackling from the beginning of the seventeenth century to the present. He appears in paintings, books, films and, of course, music - most famously in the "opera of operas" by Mozart, who completed and premiered his Rake Punished in Prague, but did not afford him a remedy. It will be interesting to watch the climax of Strauss’ and Braunfels’ compositions; perhaps the seducer will at last escape hell.
