SMETANA – MY COUNTRY

My Homeland is an opus that touches the heart again and again. Bedřich Smetana embedded in the piece the beauty and capacity of a country whose people can rejoice, but also come together in difficult times. This year, this jewel of Czech program music is celebrating 140 years since its first complete performance at Žofín in Prague. Since then, it has received hundreds of performances, reminding listeners around the world how important the love for one’s homeland is. We present My Homeland every year to mark the Day of the Establishment of the Independent Czechoslovak State. This time, the European Jac van Steen, will take over the baton and join in the celebrations.
