The Sedláček Quartet is one of the top Czech ensembles, with a particularly laudable predilection for encouraging young Czech composers to compose. Maybe it's also because the Quartet has in its middle a composing violist, Tomáš Krejbich, a member of the FOK orchestra. In May 2022, we can look forward to the premiere of a piece by the young composer Petr Hora. Not only the premieres, however, keep the ensemble alive, they also like to discover unknown works by important Czech artists. This is how the Six String Quartets by Rafael Kubelík, the legendary conductor, have been brought to life. But it wouldn't be a quartet if it didn't dwell on the music of the old masters as well. The cornerstone of the world chamber literature, Schubert's Death and the Maiden Quartet, is magnificent proof of this.
