Kryštof Mařatka, receiving the Classic Prague Award for contemporary music in 2018, claimed that in his opinion, there is no music past, contemporary or future, but just music – possibly universal. On this principle, he builds his musical monuments, in which he employs a great deal of ethnic instruments, and links them organically to the most up-to-date forms and procedures. This will also be the case for the Czech premiere of his Báchorky (Stories), in which Kryštof Mařatka will play the piano and Czech folk instruments. The violist Jitka Hosprová and clarinettist Jan Mach will join him on stage, and in consonance of art forms, also his grandfather, the famous sculptor Jiří Mařatka with his works decorating the Hall.
