PRAGUE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Kristjan JÄRVI | conductor
The Estonian-American composer, conductor and pianist, Kristjan Järvi, had no chance to avoid music, considering his famous family background. Just as well. His path is original, transcending genres and various fields of music. He makes significant contributions to film (he wrote, among other, music for the feature film Atlas of Clouds), as we will hear in the Czech premiere of his Aurora. And, of course, in order not to neglect his Estonian roots, he chose the Swansong by Arvo Pärt. Tonight, however, he will be in the company of yet another great man, the violinist Vadim Repin, for whom the orchestra has been waiting a long time. The first time, his performance was thwarted by a piece of broken stucco in Smetana Hall, the second time by the pandemic. Prokofiev's Violin Concerto will be a befitting reward!
