The eminent Czech organist, Jaroslav Tůma, will open the programme by presenting two important figures of Czech music - Alois Hába and Jan Hanuš, followed by the opulent symphony by the king of French organists Charles-Marie Widor. Yes, the king, for at the age of twenty-five he became organist at the Saint-Sulpice Church in Paris, thus occupying the most prestigious organ throne in France, where he reigned for a full 64 years. The Symphony No. 5 is truly royal, for its last movement often crowns royal weddings: Prince William and Princess Catherine could tell the story.
The concert is held in collaboration with the Municipal House and with the support of the Fr. A. Urbánek Foundation.
