The Czech Christmas Mass by Jakub Jan Ryba is an inseparable part of Czech Christmas festivities. In Matěj Forman's direction, however, it comes to life in a completely different way. Alongside the orchestra, choir and soloists, a magical world of puppets will be set in motion, transporting us back in time to experience the narration of Ryba's Mass with our own eyes. Surrounded by a faithful depiction of a classic Czech nativity scene, we can follow the story of the birth of Jesus Christ and the subsequent journey of the shepherds to Bethlehem. However, the Mass itself was too short for Matěj Forman's narrative, so he supplemented it with compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Georg Friedrich Handel, Joseph Haydn and Jiří Miroslav Procházka. The Magic Rybovka is thus a rich feast for the eyes and ears.
The performance is held in cooperation with the Lampion Theatre and the Forman Brothers Theatre.
