Jac van STEEN | conductor
It has become a lovely tradition that, in the time before Christmas, Jac van Steen returns to the Prague Symphony Orchestra. A charismatic, extremely humane, and always perfectly prepared conductor, with whom our audiences have fallen in love. This time they’ll travel with him to the city on the Seine, the ‘City of Love’. Two elegant Poulenc pieces promise a French experience par excellence, and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 25 will be another piece of the mosaic. An attentive listener may hear a motif that is also heard in the ‘War Song for the Army of the Rhine’, better known as ‘La Marseillaise’. Apart from France, the Netherlands, Canada, and Slovakia will be represented in the concert’s cast. Marie Fajtová will lift the Czech torch; her voice will bring a sparkle to both Mozart and Poulenc.
The concerts are held under the auspices of Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris
