The BBC Music Magazine ranked the Pavel Haas Quartet among the 10 greatest string quartets of all time, highlighting its impressive style and beautiful sound as well as its dedication and uniqueness. The members of the quartet go their own way, while still relating to the Czech Jewish composer Pavel Haas. The lineage leads that way to another notable Jewish composer, Erwin Schulhoff, and also to Brno-born Erich Wolfgang Korngold, who fortunately escaped destruction in Europe, as did Bohuslav Martinů.
