Francesco Piemontesi | piano
The New York Times wrote in 1969 about the sensational discovery: At the bottom of a chest in an abandoned house lay a copy of a fantasy by Franz Schubert. There are doubts about its authenticity, but it contains typical Schubert elements such as scale and chromatic runs, the rhythm of a polonaise, and above all a beautiful opening melody. Francesco Piemontesi's faithful interpretation of Schubert's melodies is a strength. Alongside Schubert, Beethoven's Wallenstein Sonata stands out for its technical difficulty and virtuosity.
