GEORGIAN EASTER

Georgia doesn't just abound in intoxicating wine and ubiquitous walnuts. This Caucasian country also boasts an ancient culture, which is the main strength of a nation that has been put to a test. It is no coincidence that Georgia's polyphonic singing is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. And this is exactly what the famous male ensemble Shvidkatsa, translated as Seven Men, performs in traditional dress with daggers at their waists. Georgia, like neighbouring Armenia, also boasts magical monasteries and a strong spiritual tradition, especially at Easter. Hence, there is no more appropriate date for Georgian spiritual singing than the Tuesday in the Holy Week, in the year of Our Lord 2024.
