The main programme of the concert is Antonín Dvořák's Second Piano Quintet, one of the most beautiful works of its kind. It carries great drama, virtuosity, and disarming tenderness in the second movement. The all-female quartet will be accompanied by the great pianist Miroslav Sekera. The title and the formation of this string quartet, composed of four outstanding female players, were inspired by the Austrian Jewish violinist Alma Rosé, the niece of Gustav Mahler (named after his wife Alma), who led a women's orchestra in Auschwitz. Women's art will also be represented by a painting by the landscape painter Jenny Salm, a contemporary of Franz Schubert.
