Although it may not seem so at first glance, the cello and guitar are musically similar; they have a similar tonal range, breadth of colours and means of expression. Moreover, in the hands of true artists such as Miriam Rodriguez Brüllová and Petr Nouzovský, this instrumental combination can become a source of unexpected moods and emotions. Today's ten-string concert will feature transcriptions of works by music greats: Vivaldi, Ravel and Tchaikovsky. In the arrangements, ‘solely’ the guitar replaces the piano or basso continuo, but its intimacy and nostalgic subtlety amply balance the missing tonal range. Of course, the guitar will also stand out in the Spanish folklore; what else should an evening full of dreams include.
