What would Easter be like without a spiritual meditation. Dvořák's Stabat Mater is one of the most powerful orchestral compositions. At home, as well as around the world, it is received on par with the greatest works by maestros Handel, Haydn and Beethoven. Every music lover should hear the composition at least once. In addition to a colourful instrumentation, magnificent work with voices and a religious story, it offers immense depth relevant even today. It’s as if the Virgin Mary mourned not only for her son, but also for Dvořák’s three children whom he lost quickly one after another while working on this piece. And it was this life experience that elevated Dvořák's setting of Stabat Mater above all renditions created before and after, similarly to Mozart's Requiem.
