CZECH NONET
The Czech Nonet belongs to one of the oldest chamber ensembles in the world. It has been the soul as well a chronicle of Czechoslovak, or precisely Czech music since 1924, as the program of the December concert accurately proves. For example, Nonet No. 2 by Bohuslav Martinů was written for the Czech Nonet. It impresses with its purity, wisdom and masterful use of an inexhaustible range of color combinations. Václav Trojan also wrote for the Nonet and his musical portrait of the brave knight Bajaja plays with different fairy-tale combinations. The names of the parts speak for themselves: Bajaja sets off to liberate the Princess, and Bajaja's fight with the dragon and the happy liberation. Similar comfort is provided by Jiří Jaroch's suite, written as a gift for the children of the then members of the Czech Nonet. Let the concert of the Czech Nonet be a pre-Christmas gift to us all!
